David JP Phillips TED talk, How to Avoid Death by Powerpoint, builds upon Melissa's simple message with five rules for effective powerpoints.  David gave me some specifics that made improvement easy.

  • ONE message per slide
  • Use CONTRAST – makes your point pop out
  • Most important = LARGEST size font
  • One simple sentence 
  • Dark background
  • No more than SIX elements per slide
